Week 1 & 2 The Naked Artist

Series of techniques used to create emotional availability in performance and exploration of the body and its relation to space.

Week 3 Acting & Re-acting

The art of listening, accepting all forms of communication and the limitless reactions/responses that come from it.

​

Week 4 Introduction to script [Special industry guest to speak]

Every actor will be given their showcase piece (10min duologue or short play)

​

Week 5 Finding the writers intention in text

Decoding text, the beats, the style and the active question of the writer.

​

Week 6 Understanding the world of the text

Establishing context in performance. Era, ethics and climate.

​

Week 7 Character intention

A series of techniques to explore the levels, depth, tactics and obstacles that affect intention.

​

Week 8 Character building [Special Industry guest to speak]

A series of techniques to establish the foundation of character, the layering of character and ensuring character choices are expressed in performance.

​

Week 9 World of character

Finding the immediate world of the character, their lifestyle and backstory and allowing this information to affect performance.

​

Week 10 Showcase preparation

Transitioning of the pieces, blocking, run through and notes.

​

Week 11 Showcase preparation

Blocking, run through and notes.

​

Week 12 Showcase

Showcase in front of Casting directors and agents at The Royal Court Theatre
